SIFE

SIFE - Students in Free Enterprise

What is Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)?

SIFE is a global organization active on college campuses in more than 40 countries.  Around the world, over 1800 SIFE teams create economic opportunity for others by developing outreach projects that teach:

·        Market Economics

·        Success Skills

·        Entrepreneurship

·        Financial Literacy

·        Business Ethics

SIFE’s vision:  Helping people achieve their dreams through free enterprise education.

The West Texas A&M University SIFE team is a student organization of the College of Business.

Why should a student join WTAMU SIFE?

SIFE team members learn leadership, teamwork, communication, and project management skills through hands-on application of classroom concepts to solve real-world problems.  Through service learning, SIFE team members develop their own personal potential  to create economic opportunity by learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of free enterprise.

The Students in Free Enterprise organization (www.sife.org) is funded by contributions from over 200 major corporations.  Career Fairs at each competition allow SIFE team members access to the recruiters from SIFE sponsors.

What does a SIFE team do?

The WTAMU SIFE team completes about 30 projects each year.  In April, the team competes at a Regional Competition for the right to advance to the national competition in Kansas City, Missouri.  The WTAMU SIFE team has won a Regional Championship and advanced to the national competition each year since 1994-95.

In competition, the team makes a formal presentation to a panel of judges representing the corporations and entrepreneurs who fund SIFE.  Through reading a written annual report and from the oral presentation, the judges determine which teams were the most successful at creating economic opportunity for others.

How do I contact WTAMU SIFE?
