Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).
SIFE is a
collegiate student leadership organization with teams on over 600 campuses nationwide. WTAMU SIFE
is completing its fifth year. In each of those five years, SIFE has won a
Regional Championship in Memphis, Tennessee, and advanced to competition at SIFE's International Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri.
SIFE's mission is to provide college students the best
opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork, and
communication skills through learning, practicing, and teaching the
principles of free enterprise.
SIFE
projects are presented to corporate judges in a written annual report and
in a multimedia presentation at Regional Competitions and at International
Competition. Students who attend the competitions also have an opportunity
to interview with SIFE's corporate sponsors
including Frito-Lay, General Electric, Hallmark Cards, Office Depot,
Rubbermaid, Armour Swift Eckrich,
Office Depot, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Eckerds,
Newell, Shermin-Williams, and American Greetings.
Locally, Hasting Entertainment, Inc. has been WTAMU SIFE's
major corporate sponsor.
Epsilon
Delta Pi, CIS honorary society.
Requires a 3.2 GPA overall and in all CIS courses.
Omicron
Delta Epsilon is the honors society open to students with a
major/minor in economics that have achieved academic distinction.
Toastmasters International is the leading
movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide
reality.
Through
its member clubs, Toasmasters International helps
men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinkinbg - vital skills that promote
self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human
understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
It is
basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand
its worldwide network of clubs, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of
people the opportunity to benefit from its programs.
The
mission of the Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and
positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to
develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster
self-confidence and personal growth.
Alpha
Kappa Psi National Professional Business
Fraternity (Epsilon Iota Chapter).
Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest professional
business fraternity, founded in 1904 at New York University.
Currently, there are over 230 college chapters, over 75 alumni chapters,
and over 150,000 members, making AKPsi one of the
largest American College Fraternities.
Epsilon
Iota Chapter was founded March 15, 1959 at West Texas
A&M University.
We are now ranked 3rd in the nation among college chapters for performance
and efficiency. Recently we received special recognition from the
university for outstanding service to the students of West Texas
A&M University.
Campus
activities include intramural sports, work-a-thon, hosting of the College
of Business Annual Awards Banquet and Leadership Symposium, Yellow Rose
Formal, Fall Fling, Etiquette Dinner and other special campus events.
Organizations
we have recently worked with include Toys for Tots, Department of Texas
Highways, MADD, Ronald McDonald House, Junior League of Amarillo, Special
Olympics, American Lung Association, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, City of Canyon and
WTAMU.

Alpha
Kappa Psi membership is open to all students in
the College
of Business. Members
are exposed to business leaders and professionals who provide new ideas and
job opportunities through speaker programs and meeting geared to their
interest.
- Leadership- Membership
develops leadership and public speaking abilities through planning and
carrying out of various projects.
- Career Guidance- AKPsi helps to develop business contacts on a
local and national level.
- Student Loan Fund- Financial
Assistance that can be provided to undergraduate and graduate members.
- Chester-Cunningham
Scholarship- Scholarships are given each year to outstanding members
of Epsilon Iota chapter.
- Brotherhood- Lifelong
friendships through fraternal brotherhood. Interaction between Student
and Faculty.
